Anosike inks deal in Italy, reaches agreement with FIBA Europe Cup Finalist Varese
After evaluating offers across the globe, O.D. Anosike has penned a one-year deal with Openjobmetis Varese of the Italian Serie A league. Varese had a strong year overall last season, finishing ninth in the Italian league standings while advancing to the FIBA Europe Cup finals. With their outstanding run last year, Varese was invited to compete in FIBA international competition this season as well. With the addition of Anosike, Head Coach Paolo Moretti expects to make another step in the right direction with his new squad.
“I’m happy and proud to coach a player like O.D.” said Moretti. “His skills, knowledge for the game, and overall personality is sure to bring a lot of success to the team and city of Varese.”
Anosike concluded the season last year with Enel Basket Brindisi also of the Italian Serie A league, averaging 6 points and a league-leading 10 rebounds. Training camp for Varese will commence in mid-August, while the first official game of FIBA international competition is set for September 27. Serie A league matches begin in October.
