Anosike leads the charge with double-double, Gaziantep pounds Anka Spor on the road
In a Sunday afternoon tip-off, Gaziantep jumped out to an early 21-8 lead and never looked back. They easily dismantled a young Anka Spor team 108-47, and OD Anosike finished with 17 points (6/7 shooting), 10 rebounds, and 3 assists in 15 minutes of action.
“Playing against a young, inexperienced team are sometimes the hardest games to play” said Anosike. “They can come out with a care-free, no-pressure type of attitude that can be tough to stop if you allow them to gain confidence. But we didn’t allow them to get into any kind of rhythm – that’s a testament to the focus and energy we played with. I’m proud of my guys, we’re moving in the right direction but there’s still a lot more we can improve on as a group”.
The victory is Gaziantep’s second in a row as they move to 8-12 on the season, good for a tie for 13th place. Anosike and his teammates will be back in action on January 26 in a home showdown against the league’s first-place team, Erokspor.
