6-8 forward who won two NCAA rebounding titles with Saints played in 11 foreign countries
Upon finishing his college career in 2013, former Siena men’s basketball forward OD Anosike set a goal of playing 10 years in the professional ranks.
He exceeded that figure.
Anosike, a two-time Division I rebounding champion with the Saints, spent 13 seasons overseas in locations as far-ranging as Iran, Italy, and South Korea.
Anosike, 35, announced his retirement on social media on Sunday.
“I just felt like it was time,” Anosike said by phone on Tuesday. “I also said when I felt like I wasn’t helping the team and I wasn’t relatively close to my best self, I would consider retirement. I didn’t want it to be something I just did for myself. I wanted to be productive on the court. I didn’t feel like I was doing that as well as I would have liked this past season.”
